The FN49 is a semi-automatic rifle chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO (.308 Winchester) that was designed and produced by the Belgian company Fabrique Nationale (FN) in the late 1940s and early 1950s. It was widely used by various military forces around the world, including Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Colombia, Egypt, Luxembourg, and Venezuela. The FN49 features a gas-operated action with a tilting bolt, a 10-round detachable box magazine, and a fixed wooden stock. Its effective range is around 600 meters, and it weighs approximately 4.8 kilograms. The FN49 was eventually replaced by more modern designs such as the FN FAL and the M16. However, it is still considered a reliable and accurate rifle, and is highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts.
